This year Austin Craft Riot is pleased to be collaborating with Cherrywood Art Fair in promoting the handmade revolution. Our two organizations have similar goals and we both thought it would be a good idea to join forces to bring Austin even better handmade shopping experiences in 2011. Many team members have raved about doing this show, so we’re happy to promote something that has treated our team members well.

Why You Should Apply For Cherrywood Art Fair
Cherrywood Art Fair is a two-day handmade art fair situated in the heart of Austin. 2011 marks Cherrywood Art Fair’s 10th year of bringing art and handmade crafts to holiday shoppers in Austin. It’s a free, family friendly event that features live music on two stages, DIY activities and demonstrations along with the shopping experience. As part of the fair’s 10th anniversary celebration, they are increasing the number of vendors to 100, the largest it has ever been.

Cherrywood Art Fair is a fundraiser for the CHULA League. Your $25 application fee helps fund a non-profit organization dedicated to the Arts and Art Education. Since the show is held at the fantastic Maplewood Elementary, they are able to keep booth fees down significantly for the artists. The money raised by your booth fee goes to help such programs as Little Artist/Big Artist, a program dedicated to bringing the love and experience of handmade art to children.
This year sponsors and accepted vendors will also have the privilege of purchasing ads for their business in the fair’s full color program. This program will be handed out to the over 6,000 attendees.

“I love that they involve the kids in the ongoing demo’s during each day, as part of their Little Artist/Big Artist program. Cherrywood Art Fair really gets the word out, and the show is well attended by both local neighbors and folks from the outskirts of town, it is truly a destination!”

Artists Benefits
Cherrywood Art Fair is a show that cares about handmade quality and the artists behind the products. Resale and commercial products are not allowed, only handmade products. They take pride in handpicking only the highest quality and most unique products to create a memorable shopping experience.

With artists coming from all over Texas and beyond, Cherrywood Art Fair understands the stresses of a long two-day show and takes care to help out artists as much as possible. Not only do they feature a legendary vendor lounge with breakfast and lunch treats, they have an enthusiastic volunteer staff walking around looking to give breaks or help artists where needed.

“I absolutely love Cherrywood Art Fair. The organizers do a phenomenal job curating the show – they really select the best artists and crafts people with a great focus on diversity of products and price points.  They do a great job making sure you feel taken care of. The vendor’s lounge, stocked with fresh hot food and a variety of drinks and snacks, is the best in town.”

“In addition to the show being extremely profitable, it is very well organized. The clientele the fair attracts plus the talent and variety of the artists & artisans is fabulous.”

Cherrywood Art Fair Customers
For the last couple of  years the fair has drawn over 6,000 attendees and continues to grow annually. Austin shoppers are renowned for their appreciation and love of unique artistic items and Cherrywood Art Fair is the shopping outlet they love to peruse. These customers love the quality and interaction they receive by purchasing handmade goods directly from an artist.

“Cherrywood Art Fair is one of the most consistently great holiday shows in Austin. The vendors are all top notch and skilled in their craft. The customers are discerning in taste and appreciative of handmade quality. Cherrywood Art Fair is the show that shoppers ask me if I’ll be at because that’s where they’re doing most of their shopping. The halls are packed with customers almost all day and they are serious about their shopping.”
